Summer projects

A major project we wanted to do this summer was to build a small roadside stand. We live on a fairly busy road with a lot of tourism traffic heading toward a popular state park so we thought it may be a good place to sell some produce, crafts, fresh cut flower bouquets and other things.

Here we are deciding on the design and just actually where the stand should sit.

Ah, finally! The walls are up! This is the stage the stand is in right now, but I'll be sure to post more pictures once it's finished and up and running!
Our friends, Steve & Gwen Geise, came over the for an afternoon and helped us put it up.

These are some examples of the bouquets we hope to sell in the stand.

Several weeks ago, Dad was driving a few hundred feet behind a Township truck when our windshield was hit by a flying stone and cracked in several places. Thankfully, we were able to locate this local glass service company that came right to our home to install the new windshield!

Another project this summer is canning many jars with vegetables from our garden! Laura loves to me help me pack pickle jars!
Charity got the little ones helping her snip doesn't look like Caleb is being much help though....
Ethan kindly fixed our pantry/laundry room switches for us!

Ethan's project this year has been incubating and raising guinea chicks. He has 6 larger ones and two tiny ones right now.
Here is our garden with the rainwater run-off in the foreground. =)

Ethan's mommy guinea decided to go broody on 25 eggs in the middle of the green bean patch. =)

                                                                Daddy/baby nap time! =)
We've been having some issues with our well pump not being strong enough to run the amount of irrigation we need here and we learned from our neighbor that the pump was 25+ years old so, we decided it was time for a new one. The neat thing is that our neighbor is the "pump man" for the whole community so it was simple to get him to come over this afternoon and install our new well pump!

Blessed is the Nation whose GOD is the LORD!

"The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance ... Behold, the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy ... Our soul waiteth for the LORD: he is our help and our shield. For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name. Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in thee."   Psalm 33
